STAGE BAND

The Academy Stage Band rehearse weekly at Bathurst Panthers from 6pm-7pm Thursdays and perform regularly at Academy and community events during the year. Lead by multi-instrumentalist and Academy tutor, Glen Wholohan, the stage band are one of the leading big bands in the region and are focused on reaching personal and team goals in a fun and supportive environment and forming lifelong friendships.
The Stage Band are always on the look out for new members and encourage anyone interested to contact the Academy for details on becoming a member.

CLARINET CHOIR

The Academy Clarinet Choir rehearse weekly at Bathurst Panthers from 4:45pm-5:45pm Thursdays. Lead by multi-instrumentalist and Academy tutor, Glen Wholohan, the clarinet choir is the perfect outlet for clarinet players wishing to find like-minded people to meet with weekly and play music.

The clarinet choir is a no-pressure environment for clarinet players to work with an encouraging and knowledgeable leader, focused on enjoying the process of learning clever and interesting Clarinet arrangements and having fun playing as a group.

MACKILLOP GUITAR GROUP

The Mackillop College guitar group is coordinated by Academy guitar tutor, Tameka Kennedy, assisted by vocal tutor, Tim Quaife. The group rehearse once a week at lunchtime (Mackillop College, Bathurst). The guitar group welcomes students of all levels and abilities, the group focus on arranging contemporary songs as a team and preparing for performances.
The Mackillop guitar group perform regularly at Academy and community events including the Royal Bathurst Show, Academy Showcase, open mic nights and school events. Students enjoy the opportunity to gain experience performing and the safe and encouraging environment created for students to play guitar and sing if they choose to.

CATHEDRAL GUITAR GROUP

The Cathedral Guitar Group is coordinated by Academy guitar tutor, Tameka Kennedy, assisted by guitar tutor, Findlay Webb. The group rehearse once a week at lunchtime (Cathedral School, Bathurst). The guitar group welcomes Cathedral students of all levels and abilities to join and learn how to play in an ensemble, work as a member of a team and experience performing in a safe, nurturing and fun environment.
The Cathedral guitar group perform regularly at school events including Band Night, Family Night, the Cathedral school fete and community events including the Royal Bathurst Show, Bathurst Academy Showcase etc.
Cathedral Guitar Group is designed to be social, fun and give students a purpose to work hard in their music lessons. Guitar group provides students various performance goals, teaching responsibility, team work and accountability.

ST. PHIL’S BAND

St. Phil’s Band is coordinated by Academy guitar tutor, Tameka Kennedy, assisted by drum tutor, Phoebe Dawson. The band rehearse once a week at lunchtime (St. Philomena’s School, Bathurst). The band is open to all St Phil’s students learning an instrument.

Our band teachers are focused on inspiring students to master their instrument and practise hard, demonstrating the fun and fulfillment that comes from playing your instrument alongside your friends. The guitar group aims to be a motivator for music students, as well as a safe platform to experience performing live and gaining confidence as a person.

St. Phil’s guitar group are one of the Academy’s busiest bands, performing regularly at our monthly Open Mic Nights (6pm-10pm at Bathurst Panthers) as well as community and Academy events during the year, including the Royal Bathurst Show and BAMFEST.

MACKILLOP VOCAL GROUP

The Mackillop College Vocal group is lead by our Academy vocal tutor, Tim Quaife, assisted by guitar tutor, Tameka Kennedy.

Mackillop Vocal Group encourages all Mackillop College students with an interested or love of singing to join. The group meet each Thursdays 1pm and work on fun and interesting vocal arrangements. Students learn how to sing melody and harmony in an ensemble, with a focus on inspiring students to find their voice and develop confidence as singers and as young women.

The Mackillop Vocal group prepare performances for school events such as masses, liturgies and assemblies, and collaborate with the Mackillop guitar group when required. The vocal group are always welcoming new members and encourage anyone interested in singing to take advantage of the time available each with our Academy singing coach and inspirational vocal mentor, Tim Quaife.
