Bathurst Academy of Music is one of the leading creative arts centers in the Central West of NSW, an Academy of around 300 students from 19 schools. The Academy offer one-on-one musical tuition service with band programs, ensembles, dance classes and mentoring programs for aspiring musicians and those wishing to develop their skills in the creative arts.
Music lessons at the Academy aim to develop students' practical and performance skills on their instrument and an understanding of music theory, using the latest technology, teaching methods and a focus on the music of today.
Depending on your skills and experience, you would be involved in:
- Instructing Guitar lessons at local schools and the Academy studios
- Running lessons independently (with materials and direction provided where needed);
- Attending Bathurst Academy of Music events and performances
- Assisting with organising and coordinating your students in a manner that works with your schedule and the schedules of your students.
In addition to this, depending on your interests and experience, there are additional work opportunities is
- Social Media
- Administration
- Instrument repairs & maintenance
- Live events & performances
- Audio Engineering, lighting & staging
- Music Retail
Hours & Pay
This role is initially budgeted for 28 hours per week depending on availabilities and experience. There is opportunity for you to grow your student base if you choose to and if there is demand.
Our regular teaching hours are Monday - Friday 10am-6pm. The Academy run occasional events outside of these hours which you will be usually expected to support as part of the role.
Payment rates may be commensurate with your experience and responsibilities, however $44 per hour plus superannuation is the regular teaching rate.

What we’re looking for:
Teachers must have:
- Completed HSC Music or equivalent; or
- Started or completed a music degree, or have sufficient industry experience
- Experience teaching
- Live performance experience
- Working with Children Check
- Active industry involvement
- Be willing to conduct a variety of lesson types including groups, children and adult classes and lessons of different skill levels.
- Be willing and able to teach a diverse range of musical styles.
Our studio is located in Bathurst. You will be reporting directly to the BAM director and will work alongside the other teachers in a great team environment.
